Greetings

Welcome to the 2007-2008 first edition of our newsletter, “Extra Time” emailed monthly throughout the indoor season.  Vermont’s finest premier indoor soccer facility, The Soccer Center provides the best soccer experience for any player or team. The Soccer Center offers the most competitive leagues including teams from the premier clubs in the state.  We also offer league play for the less competitive teams. At The Soccer Center, we are dedicated to the athlete of any age or skill level. The creation of leagues and the availability of divisions within leagues is often dependant on the number of teams registered per session.

Opening Day!

The Soccer Center will open its doors to league play on November 6th. Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your match to finalize registration.  No team will be allowed to play unless they are PAID IN FULL.

For driving purposes, you should take entrance “B” from Route 15 and follow the signs to the main parking lot. The Futsal leagues will be held in the North building and the 7v7 and 9v9 leagues will be in the South Building.

Session 1: Team Registration

To register your team in a league at The Soccer Center, click here to go to our registration page.  Every indoor league player will be registered and insured with either the Vermont Soccer Association (youth) or the Vermont State Soccer Association (adults) to insure the safety and well being of all participants.  The Soccer Center is the only indoor center in Vermont to register and affiliate their adult players with the VSSA.  These registrations and affiliations carry a liability and secondary medical insurance for players, coaches, and spectators.  This enables all of The Soccer Center’s leagues to be sanctioned by the above organizations and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).  All referees for The Soccer Center games will be USSF-certified.

Game Schedules

Our goal is to post schedules online one week prior to the start of the session. Due to unforeseen issues with scheduling, some changes may need to be made after the initial posting. As a general rule you should check your schedule prior to each game to insure you have the most current information.

To find the schedule for your team:

  • Go to www.thesoccercenter.org
  • Click on the large “Schedules, Scores and Standings” button on the front page
  • Click on Futsal, 9v9 or 7v7 depending on what league you are in
  • Click on the ‘age bracket league’ button on the left

The schedules and standing pages will be updated after each day’s games.  All are encouraged to monitor the "Schedules, Scores and Standings" page on a regular basis for schedule information.  This is accessed from the LARGE ORANGE button right on the home page.

Why Play Futsal?

Futsal is the way the world plays indoor soccer! Futsal is beginning to take the country by storm as more and more people discover the unique and positive qualities of Futsal. It is a game played around the world as many of today’s world stars began their youth soccer by playing Futsal. The Brazilians attribute their world soccer success to Futsal. Pele, Zico, Socrates, Ronaldo and Bebeto grew up playing Futsal and credit Futsal with developing their skills. The Soccer Center offers three 7-week session for players of all ages and abilities.

TOP TEN REASONS TO PLAY FUTSAL

1.  Rewards- Futsal rewards the same basic skills, tactics and knowledge of the game as the 11v11 outdoor game.

2.  Ball Touches -In a statistical study comparing Futsal to indoor arena soccer with walls, players touch the ball 210% more often.

 3.  Ball Control- With limited space, an out of bounds and constant  pressure, improved ball control skills and technique are required.

 4.  Speed of Play - players learn to play & think fast.

 5.  Mandatory Support - Without a wall, players must make supporting runs when their teammates have the ball.

 6.  Continuity of Play - Action is continuous so players are rarely just stop and watch.

 7.  Knowledge -with 4 players in non-stop action, players' game understanding is enhanced.

 8.  Framing the Goal - The goal is a perfect size for narrowing the angle and framing the goal

 9.  Encouraged Learning - encourages a skilled game by punishing physical contact fouls.

10. Fun - Players enjoy playing a fast-paced-fun-skill-oriented game that test their abilities.

"Futsal will always be my first love." – Ronaldo

New League:  9v9
The Soccer Center is pleased to announce it will be offering 9v9 for Women’s and Men’s A.  We are the only indoor facility in the state offering 9v9 league play. The Soccer Center provides the Total Indoor Soccer Experience: 7v7, 9v9 and Futsal (5v5 including the goalkeepers).  Played in the South Building, 9v9 League play will replicate the outdoor game more closely than any other indoor league in the state.
